Duke and Duchess of Sussex were missing from the very first day of the 2019 Royal Ascot. For the unversed, the royal family every year join the queen on the first day of the five-day annual horse race. This year, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and others were present at the festivities but Meghan and Harry were MIA.

As per reports, Meghan Markle, who just gave birth to baby Archie Harrison in May is on maternity leave and that's why she was absent. For the unversed, new royal mums take a six-month break from official engagements and they can choose their public appearances after welcoming a child.

Meghan had made her Royal Ascot debut last year in a white Givenchy ensemble and looked ravishing in the same. Meghan and Harry were all loved up at the event which took place a month after their wedding.

Meghan was seen recently at the Trooping the Colour, the same is an annual royal celebration of the queen's birthday. The same was a personal engagement and that's why Meghan chose to attend the same. A source told People."You don’t skip the Queen’s birthday. She’s the Queen!"

While Meghan may skip the entire Royal Ascot event, but reports suggest that Prince Harry will attend solo sometime later. For the unversed, the Duchess of Cambridge didn't attend last year's Royal Ascot as she was maternity leave after giving birth to Prince Louis.
