Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have announced new details of their upcoming Africa tour. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that two weeks from now they will embark on their first official royal tour as a family. This will be baby Archie's first official tour after his birth in May this year. The tour will focus on community, grassroots leadership, women’s and girls’ rights, mental health, HIV/AIDS and the environment in various underprivileged regions in Africa. As per reports, the family of three will arrive in Cape Town, South Africa, on September 23. The first scheduled stop is visit to a township. They will leave their son Archie with his nanny as they start the official first leg of the tour.
Taking to Instagram, they shared, "This programme has been many months in the making, and The Duke and Duchess are eager to focus their energies on the great work being done in Southern Africa." It further read, "The Duke is especially proud to continue the legacy left by his mother with her work in Angola as he joins Halo Trust again in an effort to rid the world of landmines."
Princess Diana carried out extensive work in the African regions and Meghan and Harry will be honouring her legacy. "The Duchess will be working with local organisations to promote women and girls’ health and education, entrepreneurship and leadership." A royal source told People, "The couple hopes to be able to include Archie at some point in the programme, but it is difficult to schedule because he is 5 months old."
