Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to avoid few rituals during baby Archie Harrison's christening
In an interview with Nine News Australia’s Today show, Royal Commentator, Camilla Tominey revealed that they may not follow some traditions and will follow some royal protocols.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are now gearing up for the christening ceremony of their newborn Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and the same can take place around early July. In an interview with Nine News Australia’s Today show, Royal Commentator, Camilla Tominey revealed that they may not follow some traditions and will follow some royal protocols such as Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby officiating over the christening.
She added, “St George’s Chapel in Windsor is where Harry was christened in 1984. And remember that Honiton lace christening gown that has been worn by all royal children? It’s actually a replica of the original dress that Queen Victoria’s children were christened in."
For the unversed, Meghan and Harry selected St. George's Chapel for baby Archie's Christening ceremony. He will also wear traditional Windsor garment for the day, a replica of the Honiton lace christening gown which was commissioned by Queen Victoria for the baptism of her first child, Princess Victoria, in the year 1841. The gown has been worn by 62 royal babies and it became very fragile so a replica has been made.
Apart from by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the event will be conducted by Dean of Windsor, the Rev David Conner and Justin Welby. Grandparents Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince William and Kate will be present at the do. Queen won't be present at the same as she has another engagement. As per Ms Tominey, Princess Eugenie may be chosen as the godparent as she is very close to Harry.
