Matthew McConaughey running for Texas governor next term? Actor says it’s ‘a true consideration’
Matthew McConaughey recently revealed that he is considering to run for Texas governor. Scroll down to see what else the actor said about this revelation.
Hollywood veteran Matthew McConaughey may be heading towards a political career and considering a political run for Governor! During an episode of Crime Stoppers of Houston’s The Balanced Voice podcast, he said it was “a true consideration.” “I’m looking into now again, what is my leadership role?” he said. “Because I do think I have some things to teach and share, and what is my role? What’s my category in my next chapter of life that I’m going into?”
This comes as no surprise as McConaughey has never shied away and been vocal about politics in the past. The actor was even trending on Twitter a few months ago for what he said about liberals in America. “There’s a lot on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize and are arrogant towards the other 50 percent,” Matthew said to Russell Brand on his podcast. Russell said there is a “kind of an offhandedness, of like, ‘Oh, they’re dumb, they’re voting for Brexit, they’re voting for Trump.’ I don’t like it, and I don’t like to hear it.”
“This is where the left misses it for me, just as far as being a marketeer of a political side,” Matthew said. “You say, ‘Hey, we want to get out the vote. We want people to go vote. We’re going to do a campaign to let people vote.’ I’m like, 100 percent. Yes, everyone. Is there anyone who would say no to that? That’s universal. You have 100 percent of the audience going, ‘I’m in. That’s a constitutional right as an American, I’m in. Yes!’”
