Liam Payne REVEALS being in One Direction would've killed him; says he used to drink heavily & went to therapy
Liam Payne spoke candidly about why One Direction split, after five years of constant work with no breaks in between. The Stack It Up singer revealed that if the band continued on, it would have killed him.
One Direction went on a hiatus in 2015 as the remaining four members of the band - Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan - decided to go their separate ways, much to the dismay of Directioners. While it was initially supposed to be a break of just 18 months, such was not the case as all four members are currently enjoying some solo success. In a recent interview with Table Manners with Jessie Ware, Liam got brutally honest about how being in 1D any longer would have killed him.
"It was really scary at first. But I needed to stop, definitely. It would have killed me. One hundred percent," Payne stated. The 26-year-old singer stated that while in the band, he lost complete control of everything and the last two years were all about getting that lost control of life back and realising that it was on him. "We were definitely overworked. I had no personal life, I learnt nothing about myself. I remember getting to therapy and the guy was like, 'What do you like to do?' I haven't got a clue," Liam shared.

"I went through a little bit of a stage when I was in the band where I was drinking really heavily and I put a lot of weight on and I didn't notice. I just didn't notice, because I don't know whether I was really drunk every day or whatever," the Stack It Up singer confessed.
These are indeed shocking revelations!
However, in some good news, Payne revealed that currently, he is the happiest he has ever been in life. "It took a long time to get to this place and I'm glad that I'm at this stage of my life now," Liam gushed.
