Kylie Jenner throws 'The Handmaid's Tale' themed party, Twitter asks if she really understands what its about

Trust the Kardashian and Jenner family to throw the weirdest themed-parties and they will leave you surprised every single time. After Kim Kardashian threw a CBD-themed baby shower, Kylie Jenner and her friends over the weekend dressed up as handmaids for her BFF Anastasia "Stassi" Karanikolaou's birthday. The party's theme revolved around the popular show The Handmaid's Tale and the beauty mogul and her girl gang donned red robes and white bonnets just as the show's leading ladies. 

The soiree also doubled up as a viewing party for season three of The Handmaid's Tale which released three episodes last week. Videos and pictures from the bash were shared widely on social media and saw Kylie saying, "Praise be, ladies!" upon their arrival. "Welcome! Welcome! We're gonna watch the first episode," Kylie said. She also served cocktails with names like "praise be vodka," and "under his eyes tequila."

While videos and photos gained traction on social media, the reality star soon began to face backlash for celebrating a show which highlights serious issues like women's rights violations. The Handmaid's Tale's storyline centers on the rape and enslavement of women. "I honestly believe Kylie Jenner did NOT understand The Handmaids Tale if she's throwing a themed party about it," wrote one Twitter user. 

Many others chimed in and called out Kylie Jenner for her lack of knowledge of the show. Another user also reached out to other netizens for help and said, "Who wants to be the one to explain Handmaids tale to Kylie Jenner." Take a look at Kylie's party pictures below:
