Kim Kardashian wins USD 2.8 million in damages from fashion label that used her pictures repeatedly

The founder of KKW Cosmetics had sued the fashion label for using her pictures, selling replicas of her outfits and by continually tagging her on their Instagram posts.

Kim Kardashian won a huge lawsuit on Wednesday and was awarded a whopping USD 2.8 million from a fashion company named  Missguided as the case came to an end. The founder of KKW Cosmetics had sued the fashion label for using her pictures, selling replicas of her outfits and by continually tagging her on their Instagram posts. The reality star has claimed that the firm used her “persona and trademarks” to sell products. Kim Kardashian had filed a USD 10 million lawsuit against the retailer in the February. 

The judgement came after Missguided failed to appear for the hearing. "Defendant Misguided USA Finance Inc. has failed to appear, plead, or otherwise defend in this action, and default was entered on March 29, 2019," court documents obtained by E! News read.

A report in The Verge stated: "Missguided to pay Kardashian West USD 2.7 million in damages and USD 59,600 in attorney fees." The court has also orderedto stop using Kim's trademarks in connection with the “sale, marketing, or distribution of its products.” Kim Kardashian had earlier voiced her frustration of fashion brands ripping off her work. Kim had said, "It's devastating to see these fashion companies rip off designs that have taken the blood, sweat and tears of true designers who have put their all into their own original ideas." 

tKim Kardashian recently came under the scanner and faced severe backlash for her new shapewear line titled Kimono. Netizens and the Japanese community accused the star of cultural appropriation and led to a huge controversy. Kim has finally revealed she won't be calling it Kimono but launch a new name.
