In some unfortunate news making the rounds, Kevin Hart was involved in a horrific car crash in Los Angeles, California, according to US Weekly. His 1970 Plymouth Barracuda crashed into a wooden fence which was at the side of the road on Mulholland Highway. The car proceeded to roll over and landed in a ditch in Malibu, post-midnight, at around 1 am on Sunday, i.e. September 1, 2019. The Jumanji: The Next Level star did not drive the car and was in the passenger's seat.

The vehicle was being driven by Jared S. Black with his fiancée Rebecca Broxterman in tow. Rebecca is Kevin's wife Eniko Hart's personal trainer. While Hart and Black suffered major injuries, Rebecca suffered minor ones. She complained of pain but was not taken to the hospital. Kevin left the scene to his residence which was nearby in order to get medical attention. The actor and Jared were then transported to the hospital and neither of them was intoxicated. In the case of Black, the fire department had to saw off the roof of the car to free him and his fiancée as he was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center.

In recent developments, according to The Blast, Kevin may require back surgery post the horrific car crash. He is currently undergoing a few tests which will determine if his back requires surgery or not. In some relieving news, doctors are positive he will make a full recovery.

Kevin's The Upside (2017) co-star Bryan Cranston wrote on Instagram, "Let's all send him positive energy and healing thoughts. He's a good human. Get well soon, brother. B," while his Soul Plane (2004) co-star Terry Crews tweeted a "Get well soon brother."

The 1970 Plymouth Barracuda which was involved in the crash was Hart's gift to himself, during his 40th birthday on July 6, 2019. Hours before the car crash, Kevin had posted an Instagram Story where he was seen revving the engine and screeching the tires of his blue car. The man who was shooting the video had quipped to Hart, "Cool out."
