Jennifer Aniston wins People's Icon Award at People's Choice Awards; Pays tribute to Friends

She was recently awarded two Artists Inspiration awards at the 2019 SAG-AFTRA Foundation's Patron of the Artists Awards. And now, the actress received People's Icon Award at the 2019 E! People's Choice Awards. She received the award from her longtime friend and co-star Adam Sandler. While she received a standing ovation, she started her speech by saying that the town doles out a lot of awards, but the People's Choice has always been special to her.
She also went on a paid tribute to her series Friends and said that she has only claim to the word 'Icon' because of the iconic show and her iconic haircut. She stated, "Friends was truly the gift of a lifetime and I would not be standing up here without that amazing show and those amazing five other actors and with an audience who stuck with us for a decade and through streaming services now, and syndication and I'm sure coming to a watch soon near you or something! She added, "But anyway, you believed in us, you really did, and you believed in those very impossible large apartments, but you had to believe it because we were telling our story. But it's paved the way for everything that I've had the chance to do since."
She then also talked about her new series The Morning Show, she said she is excited to be back on TV, where it all started. She added how she is again with another incredible ensemble cast. For the unversed, Aniston is the second star to get the honour, first being Melissa McCarthy. Aside from this award, she and Adam also received The Comedy Movie of 2019 award for Murder Mystery.
