James McAvoy reveals there was ONE reason which did not land him many roles; Find Out
Dark Materials star James McAvoy has been rejected for a lot of roles because of one specific reason. The actor revealed it in a recent conversation with The Telegraph along with Jamie Lloyd.
James McAvoy’s incredible talent in front of the camera doesn’t need any introduction as over the years he has brought some incredible characters on the big screen. Some of his notable performances were in The Last King of Scotland, Atonement, Wanted, and the X-Men series. But, in a recent interview with The Telegraph ahead of his play ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’ he talked about one specific reason because of which he was turned down for many movies roles.
James McAvoy revealed that his 5ft 7in height is the reason why he missed out on so many roles. The actor was sad revealing that no one believed in him for so many years. He said, “As a shorter man, when I get a role, I’m made to feel like, well, of course, we’re going to have to do something about that.” Some of his female co-stars even joked and doubted about him being their love interest in the film. He added, “Because nobody would believe (he) would be with someone like her. That was a kick in the nuts.”
However, McAvoy didn’t reveal the names of those directors, producers, and actresses that rejected and mocked height. Also, it’s not just about height. At times, the actor was shown the door because of his poor looks. It’s hard to fathom that even McAvoy’s looks and personality coupled with his acting skills were not considered up to the mark once upon a time. But, McAvoy worked hard and proved that the mantle of his acting doesn’t need the support of his height and the proof lies in the incredible movies he has done so far.
