IT: Chapter 2 star Jessica Chastain REVEALS why there won't be a third installment in the horror franchise
In an interview with Variety, Jessica Chastain, who plays the adult Losers Club member Beverly Marsh in IT: Chapter 2, revealed why there won't be a third installment in the beloved horror franchise. Read below to know what Jessica had to say on the same.
September 2019 is here and finally, IT franchise fans will get to see the second installment aptly titled IT: Chapter 2. Based on the 1986 Stephen King's namesake novel, IT: Chapter 2 takes place 27 years after the events of the original movie with The Losers Club all grown up. The return of Pennywise makes the now adult characters face their demons once again! James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean make up the adult Losers Club while Bill Skarsgård reprises the character of Pennywise.
In an interview with Variety, Jessica and Sophia Lillis (plays young Beverly Marsh) were asked if the villainous clown Pennywise will actually die at the end of IT: Chapter 2 and will that warrant a third IT movie in the future. To this Chastain stated, "I'm not giving away spoilers! It is a spoiler! Are you asking if there's going to be an IT 3? No, there's not." Sophia added that she feels there won't be a third part. Furthermore, Jessica added, that if there was a third film, it won't include her or director Andy Muschietti.
"Because Stephen King didn't write an IT 3. The book's done... If he decides to write another chapter, great. But most likely, it'll be another 27 years later, so there'll be another actress," the Oscar-nominated actress continued.
If there were a 27-year jump, who would be the perfect actress to portray the role of Beverly in IT 3? To this, Jessica suggested Susan Sarandon or Sissy Spacek.
