Hilary Duff returns as Lizzie McGuire for a reboot series on Disney Plus; Feels its the 'right time'
Lizzie McGuire and her animated alter ego are set to make a return in the reboot of the popular Disney show. And guess what, Hilary Duff is reprising her role for the Disney Plus show.
We cannot stop ourselves from singing, "Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of." After all, Lizzie McGuire is making a comeback. Yes, you read it right. Lizzie McGuire is getting a reboot. And the best part: Hilary Duff is reprising her Disney role for the reboot. Disney is rebooting the popular show on the studio's upcoming online streaming platform. The announcement of the reboot came about at D23 Expo. The reboot will follow the journey of a 30-year-old millennial navigating her life through New York City.
Disney has also confirmed that original series creator Terri Minsky will be the showrunner. Confirming her return, Lizzie took to Instagram and shared a video of montage shots from the original series to share her reaction. She said, "SURPRISE!!! I’ve been trying to contain this excitement for a loooong time while this has been in the works! I am beyond excited to be home again, back with my girl ...and into her 30’s."
Appearing on the D23 stage, Hilary said, "The good news is, just like me and everybody who loved Lizzie and has grown up with her, Lizzie’s also grown up. She’s older, she’s wiser, she has a much bigger shoe budget, which is super exciting. She has her dream job. She has kind of the perfect life right now. She’s working as an apprentice to a fancy New York City decorator. She has her dream guy, who owns a cool SoHo restaurant. She has her dream apartment in Brooklyn. And she’s getting ready to celebrate her 30th birthday.”
