Harry Styles reveals REAL reason behind passing Prince Eric role in The Little Mermaid
Harry Styles was tapped to bring the role of Prince Eric to life. However, the One Direction star passed the opportunity. The actor-singer revealed the reason behind his decision.
A few weeks ago, Harry Styles got our hopes high when the news about Disney approaching him to play a prince made the headlines. The singer-actor was approached by the Mouse House to bring Prince Eric of The Little Mermaid to life on the big screen. However, the One Direction singer chose to give the role a miss. While the reason behind his decision was not revealed, it was confirmed that Disney is on a lookout for another actor to play the role in the live-action movie.
Now, Harry is spilling the beans on his decision to pass on the opportunity. Featuring on the cover of The Face's latest issue, Harry revealed that Disney had indeed approached him for the Halle Bailey starrer but there were other aspects of his career which needed his focus right now.
"It was discussed," he says, referring to Disney approaching him. "I want to put music out and focus on that for a while. But everyone involved in it was amazing, so I think it's going to be great. I'll enjoy watching it, I'm sure." While we are disappointed that Harry won't be a part of the film, we are also keen on finding out who will fill the shoes of Prince Eric. And it seems we could soon find out.
Earlier this week, Christian Navarro took to Twitter and announced that he auditioned for the role. "@disney saw this, saw your support, and gave my team a call," he wrote referring to a tweet where he reached out to Disney for an audition. "They wanted to see what I could do. Tapes sent. Fingers crossed. Let's make some history."
Meanwhile the Dunkirk actor revealed that he loves acting. "Why do I want to act? It's so different to music for me. They're almost opposite for me. Music, you try and put so much of yourself into it; acting, you're trying to totally disappear in whoever you're being."
