The Joker trailer released recently showing Joaquin Phoenix putting a smile on his face. While the trailer received mixed reviews, a Twitter user suggested Dave Bautista should play a Batman archnemesis.

Dave Bautista has made his name in the world of superhero movies courtesy his role in Guardians of the Galaxy. The wrestler-turned-actor essays the role of Drax in the hit Marvel Cinematic Universe aka MCU franchise. While we cannot wait to see what he has to offer in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, Bautista is already showing interest in entering DC's Extended Universe (DCEU). The actor revealed that he would be game to play a Batman villain, provided he gets a chance. 

No, the actor is not eyeing the role of Joker, played by Joaquin Phoenix in the standalone movie. Instead, he is game to play the role of Matt Hagen Clayface. His interest in the role came after American author B. J. Mendelson took to Twitter to share his reaction to the recently release Joker trailer. He tweeted, "Nope. Still not feeling the "Joker" movie," before he shared is recommendation. 

"If you're going to give a Batman villain a standalone movie, it should be the Matt Hagen Clayface starring @DaveBautista," he wrote. Responding to the tweet, Dave admitted that he would be ready to play the role. He tweeted, "I going to enthusiastically agree with you on that!" Check out their tweets below: 


Apart from addressing the Clayface casting, Bautista also shared his reaction to the Joker trailer. He tweeted, "Odd thing is I’m dying to see it but my brain has not connected it to Batman at all. There’s  a disconnect for some reason but I can’t wait to see Joaquin as The Joker. Looks interestingly dark and grounded in the vain of The Dark Knight series. I’m in!!" 


Joker stars Joaquin in the titular role. The movie also features Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz and Marc Maron in crucial roles. The movie is set to release on October 4. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
