Grammys 2020: BTS bags ZERO nominations; Halsey joins ARMY to express her disappointment over the snub
The Grammys 2020 nominations were announced recently and to everyone's horror, BTS was not nominated under any category. The Grammy snub left fans and singer Halsey in shock.
Grammys 2020 nomination list is out and it has shocked the music industry. While few of the best musicians have been nominated, the Recording Academy has snubbed BTS. Their Map of the Soul: Persona debuted on No 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making the band the first group to score three chart-toppers in less than a year. They became the first group since the Beatles in 1996 to have this milestone, Billboard notes. If that wasn't enough, Rolling Stones also reveals the K-Pop band also outsold Beyoncé’s Homecoming to earn their third chart-topping album in the span of 11 months.
But clearly, these achievements were not enough for the Recording Academy to recognise BTS at the Grammys 2020. The seven-member Korean band, comprising of V, J-Hope, RM, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, and Suga, was given zero nominations and this has the ARMY fuming. Several fans took to Twitter to share their dismay over the snub.
"Shall we rob the Grammy museum of bts suits like they robbed us.." asked a fan, referring to the recent news that the GRAMMY Museum will house BTS' 2019 GRAMMY outfits. The K-Pop band wore matching black-and-white suits, designed by JayBaek Couture and Kim Seo Ryong, on the red carpet earlier this year. "Say what you want @BTS_twt definitely deserved a Grammy Nomination... I don’t get it..." added another fan.
International singer Halsey, who collaborated with K-Pop band on Boy With Luv earlier this year, took to Twitter to join the fans and express her thoughts on BTS' snub at Grammys 2020. She wrote, "deleting and ignoring all negativity. BTS deserved many nominations. I am however, unsurprised that they weren’t acknowledged. the US is so far behind on the whole movement. the time will come."
