Ever since the Gossip Girl reboot was announced, the million-dollar question has been: Will the OG Gossip Girl cast feature in Gossip Girl 2.0? For those who've grown up hooked to Gossip Girl, there can never be another Serena van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Dan Humphrey, Nate Archibald and Chuck Bass. So when the news about the reboot was announced, the makers confirmed that the show is not the remake of the OG series but it would be a new take on the show.

The question about Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick's involvement in the new series is still unclear. However, Gossip Girl 2.0 creator Joshua Safran has now confirmed that the characters will be a part of the show, whether or not the stars choose to return. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the executive producer revealed that the new show will mention the past characters.

"The characters talk about Serena, Blair, Chuck, Dan," he confirmed. "Well, we talk about what happened to Dan [Humphrey], so I might have to text Penn and see if he's really available," he added. "I would love for everyone to come back if they wanted to. The universe still exists," Safran assures.

Apart from sharing details about the former lead characters, Safran also revealed that the new show will be set in the same high school as the OG Gossip Girl. "We are looking at a group of friends in their junior year. Those pieces are the same. They're still in the uniforms," he explained. The creator also added that while the schools are the same, the residences aren't. The cool residence might relocate from Upper East Side to Brooklyn. Are you looking forward to Gossip Girl 2.0?
