Game of Thrones season 8: Fans on forum discuss whether Catelyn Stark knew about Jon Snow being a Targaryen

Jon Snow had earlier risen back from the dead but that was not the case for many characters in Game of Thrones. Snow will be seen in the finale but we don't know about many others including Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) as the character died in The Red Wedding episode of season three. But even after her death, theories are doing rounds on the internet. One such theory is of how Catelyn knew or was not aware about Jon Snow's background. Read on to know the theory.

We all know Jon Snow and Catelyn Stark endured a hostile relationship and Catelyn always resented Jon Snow as she thought he was the result of a one-night stand. Later, we got to know that Jon Snow is actually the son of Ned’s sister Lyanna (Aisling Franciosi) and Rhaegar Targaryen (Wilf Scolding).

Aegon Targaryen was Jon’s real name and Ned Stark knew if King Robert Baratheon would know about it, then he would kill him. Ned did not share this secret with Catelyn as the risk was huge and he took the secret to his grave following his execution in season one.

On the internet forum, A Forum of Ice and Fire, one fan wrote, “Do you think Catelyn knew? I'd like to think Ned trusted her enough to tell her. I remember her saying she found it difficult to love Jon.” And soon, fans across the world tried their best to explain why Catelyn never knew.

One fan posted, “She definitely didn't know. If she had she probably wouldn't hate him with every fiber of her being. Which would have been suspicious? Her hatred was necessary in order to keep Jon safe and secret. “

A second agreed and said, “No, Catelyn definitely did not know. The knowledge of who Jon really is was *that* dangerous, Ned couldn't even tell Catelyn. It wasn't because of a lack of trust that he didn't tell her.”

Another fan said, “No, Ned told nobody. At some point, she does ask him about Jon and he snaps at her (the only time he did that) and tells her Jon is his blood, that's all she needs to know and never to bring up that subject again.” 

Apart from this theory, many theories around Jon Snow and Daenerys are also doing rounds on the internet, including how Jon will take the Iron Throne from her.

One theory suggested that Daenerys and Jon will have a child together. The show is all set to premiere on April 14 and the same will finally put all the theories to the rest.
