Game of Thrones had a monumental run till 2019 when season 8 marked the end of an era. But, we won't be hungover from GOT withdrawal for too long as five prequels are being planned, under the trusted guidance of Mr. George R.R. Martin. The first of the five prequels could tentatively have the title of Bloodmoon or The Long Night. The series will star Noami Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Miranda Richardson, Jamie Campbell Bower, Toby Regbo and Georgie Henley.

The cast first began filming for the prequel in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and then shifted to Italy to continue shooting for the same. Casey Bloys, HBO's programming chief spoke at HBO’s TCA summer Press Tour event and gave an update on the upcoming prequel. "Shooting has wrapped, it looks really good. The cast was amazing, Jane (Goldman) and SJ (Clarkson) are busy in the edit bay," Casey revealed. Bloys also shared that the negative reaction to the final season of Game of Thrones did not affect the channel's thinking or process on the sequel.

Meanwhile, while talking to Associated Press about the upcoming prequel, Naomi revealed, "It's scary but hopefully those fans come along and get to find something new and interesting in this world as well. I don't think they will be let down. It's a great team of people they have put together."

Speaking of Game of Thrones, the series made history when it registered as staggering 32 Emmy nominations for season 8.
