It is no secret that Game of Thrones season 8 was one of the most-discussed seasons of the HBO show. The final season was a huge disappointment for fans. Many avid fans complained that the show did not answer several questions. They also pointed out that the story arc of several characters, including Daenerys Targaryen, was not justified properly. They also disliked the way David Benioff and D.B. Weiss brought an end to Cersei. These dissatisfactions led to a lot of hatred online. This intense reaction caused a major uproar in the cast's WhatsApp group, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau revealed.

The actor, who essayed the role of Jaime Lannister on the hit show, shed light on all that went down in the WhatsApp group during the backlash. Appearing on a Game of Thrones convention in Nashville, the actor spilled the beans. The actor, according to HuffPost, revealed that the negativity impacted the cast badly. "Every season has been intense in terms of the attention and discussion, but it was extraordinarily intense for a final season," he said.

"And we have this WhatsApp group, the actors, and I saw some people getting a little upset because some of the stuff is vicious, and if you make the mistake of start reading all that shit, because if you guys get really angry about something―I’m sure you did, some of you―so you write to each other and go, ‘Fucking assholes. This is so not what would happen! They ruined, they butchered George [R.R. Martin’s] world!’ It’s just fun for you, but of course some got a little upset," he revealed.

He added, "There was that kind of weird feeling of, What the hell? We worked so hard," before adding, "I’m not asking anyone to feel sorry, by the way. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m just saying how it was to get through that whole thing."

While the blame has been placed on D&D, the cast are also facing the brunt of the final season. What did you think about Game of Thrones' final season? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
