Game of Thrones: HBO finally breaks their silence on the petition for remaking season 8
Game of Thrones Season 8 received a ton of backlash with a petition by 1.3 million people demanding a remake of the final season. Read below to know HBO's reaction on the same.
Game of Thrones reached its end this year as season 8 marked the last time we would see our favourite characters like Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. We finally found what happens to these people, who we have come to know and love, over a decade. However, season 8 was met with mostly major backlash for the writing treatment and character arcs. It got so much worse that a petition with almost 1.3 million signatures was signed demanding the makers to reshoot season 8 with a better ending.
At the recently held HBO's TCA Summer Press Tour event, HBO's programming chief, Casey Bloys was asked about the petition signed by GOT fans. "There are very, very few downsides to having a hugely popular show, but one I can think of is when you try to end it, many people have big opinions on how it should end. The petition shows a lot of enthusiasm and passion for the show, but it wasn’t something that we seriously considered," Casey stated.

Bloys also revealed that the contact between HBO and the co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss was minimal because after a project reaches its sixth, seventh or eighth season, there is a steady rhythm between showrunners and HBO.
