Game of Thrones Finale: Emilia Clarke was scared THIS international sensation would hate Daenerys Targaryen
Game of Thrones season 8 ended today. The GoT Finale raised several eyebrows. While fans have mixed feeling towards Daenerys Targaryen's arc in the whole season, Emilia Clarke is worried about one particular Queen's reaction to Dany.
Game of Thrones season 8 has ended. Along with it, curtains closed on the Game of Thrones show. We now know what happened to the Iron Throne and how GoT ended. Fans have criticised Daenerys Targaryen's evolving arc through the final season of Game of Thrones. However, Emilia Clarke was worried about a certain celebrity reaction over her changing arc in the final season. Although she was the Queen of Dragons, she was worried that Queen Bey aka Beyonce would begin hating Dany after watching the final season.
In an interview with the New Yorker, the British actress spoke about the HBO show and reveals her worries about Beyonce's reaction. She recalled meeting Beyonce at an Oscars after-party hosted by the singer and her husband, Jay Z, where Beyonce raved about Daenerys Targaryen. This was long before everyone Dany took the dark road.
The Game of Thrones star said, "All I wanted to scream was ‘Please, please still like me even though my character turns into a mass-killing dictator! Please still think that I’m representing women in a really fabulous way,’” speaking about her thoughts post the Beyonce meeting.
We are sure Beyonce will understand Emilia. Several fans have expressed their dislike after watching Dany follow her father aka the Mad King's footsteps. However, in her defence, she took a dark turn after she watched her army die in the hands of the White Walkers and when Cersei did not come through with her promises. You wouldn't expect a queen to sit quietly as she watched her friend, in this case Missandei, die in the hands of your enemy. Dany's arc development is a discussion for another day.
Meanwhile, Clarke admitted she knew Dany's fate two years ago. She was aware of the ending.
“I took a very long walk around London in a daze, not quite knowing how to digest the news. Now, finally, people are going, ‘Oh, now we understand why this season hit you hard,'" she said. Wow, keeping a secret that long is no easy task.
