We screamed our lungs out in the office when the Emmys 2019 nominations were announced. The prestigious television award show is into its 71st year and Game of Thrones has made history with the nominations. The HBO show bowed down with its final season this summer amidst major controversy. However, the controversy did not impact its Emmys nominations. Game of Thrones earned as many as 32 nominations this year. This resulted in Game of Thrones making a new record of the highest nominations a drama show earned in one year.

From Best Drama to Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting, Game of Thrones left a mark in every category it was eligible for. Kit Harrington, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen, Peter Dinklage and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau bagged an individual nomination this year. While the cast shared their reactions online, Alfie told People about what went down in Game of Thrones' WhatsApp group.

The actor, who has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for his act as Theon Greyjoy, revealed that things went crazy on the group. "32 nominations, it’s pretty insane. It’s collectively a mad thing. We’ve got a group chat going, it’s going crazy at the moment. It’s amazing. It’s just incredible, I can’t wait for the actual night," he revealed. We cannot wait for a possible Game of Thrones reunion too.

Alfie went on to share his reaction on his solo nomination. The actor revealed that he wasn't even aware that he was nominated for a solo award. “I was on out and about just doing stuff. I got a congratulations text and I just thought it was a group nomination, and I didn’t realize it was an individual one, which is crazy. I’m just ecstatic really, I can’t believe this. It really surprised me, I was not expecting it at all. I’m still in shocked, still happily in shocked. It’s amazing," he said.

"And I’m so happy to be with someone like Nikolaj as well, and Peter. All these amazing people. It’s just incredible. I can’t believe it. I’m so, so happy. It’s gonna be a great night,” Allen says. “I haven’t seen these people since the show has ended so it’s going to be great to sort of round it up on a positive celebration with everyone. It’s going to be a really lovely night," he added.

We cannot wait either!  71st Primetime Emmy Awards will air on September 22 at 8 p.m. ET.
