Emma Stone takes centre stage in the FIRST trailer of Disney’s Cruella; STUNS in the role of supervillian
We recently got a glimpse of Emma Stone in her new movie Disney’s Cruella! The reimagined version of The Hundred and One Dalmatians is releasing on May 28, 2021!
The Hollywood veteran and La La Land Oscar-winner is all set to play the iconic role of Cruella De Vil in her upcoming movie! First introduced in Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians is reimagined and releasing back with Emma in the lead as the iconic villain! In addition to Stone taking on the eponymous dog-hating villain, the movie also Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, and Mark Strong. Thompson is set to play ‘an antagonist to Cruella who’s thought to be pivotal in her transformation to the villain we know today’.
The official synopsis for the film reads, ‘Cruella, which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella (Stone), a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs.’
It continues, ‘She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by Emma Thompson.’ It adds, ‘But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.’
The origin story was first announced back in 2013, finding its lead in Stone three years later. However, it remained in development limbo for a further three years before wrapping production in November 2019. Cruella is set for release on May 28.
