Imagine Emilia Clarke walking into Christian Grey's office in Fifty Shades of Grey. What a sight it would have been. But Emilia shattered our dreams by refusing to take up the offer. The project eventually ended up in Dakota Johnson's kitty and rest is history. But why did Emilia pass on the role of Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades? It's not like she's a stranger to the idea of nudity on screen. The actress was seen posing nude for a couple of scenes in Game of Thrones. However, it is because of these scenes that she shied away from the role.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the GoT alum confessed that she did not want the sex-themed movie because the focus would move away from her acting. She did not want the sex and nude scenes take the spotlight and put her character in the movie on the back seat.

“The last time that I was naked on camera on [Game of Thrones] was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that I ever get asked because I am a woman. And it’s annoying as hell and I’m sick and tired of it because I did it for the character—I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my tits, for God’s sake," she said.

"So, that coming up, I was like, "I can't." I did a minimal amount and I'm pigeonholed for life, so me saying yes to that, where the entire thing is about sensuality and sex and being naked and all of that stuff, I was just like, "No way am I going to voluntarily walk into that situation and then never be able to look someone in the eye and be like, 'No, you can't keep asking me this question,'" she added.

However, she had all praise for the director. She said, "Well, Sam [Taylor-Johnson, the director] is a magician. I love her, and I thought her vision was beautiful."

We hope that Emilia gets another chance to work with Sam soon. Meanwhile, Emilia will soon be seen in two movies. She will tickle the funny bone with Last Christmas and leave us on the edge of the seat her thriller titled Above Suspicion.
