Emilia Clarke on Game of Thrones S8 backlash: It was profoundly flattering; shows how much everybody loved it
Emilia Clarke was quizzed about the backlash surrounding the final season of Game of Thrones at the Emmys 2019. The Emmy nominee, who became a household name as Daenerys Targaryen, said that it was "profoundly flattering." Read below to know why Emilia gave such a response.
In May 2019, millions of fans bid adieu to one of the most iconic series in Television history, Game of Thrones. After years of wait, the final outcome was met with an extremely polarising reaction as fans were gutted by the character arcs of many, most notably Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister and Jaime Lannister. The hate got so real that a petition was created with 1.5 million signatures to remake season 8. Many GOT stars have spoken openly about the backlash and joining the bandwagon again is Emilia Clarke.
During the Emmys 2019, where we saw the Game of Thrones cast together one last time, Emilia was quizzed on the purple carpet about the backlash and the actress had a very interesting answer to give to Variety."You know what? It was profoundly flattering is what it was because when someone cares that much that they’re ready to make such a noise about how they believe the characters should’ve been finished and how the story should’ve gone," Clarke shared with Variety and added, "That’s just enormously flattering. That just shows how much everybody loved it."
Blood of my blood. #GameofThrones
Furthermore, the 32-year-old actress stated that the cast and crew of GOT would not have been able to survive a couple more seasons. According to Emilia, the entire team put their heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears and the Last Christmas star feels that "everybody's families are like 'thank God, you’re done. We can get everyone back.'"
