Doctor Strange 2: Avengers: Endgame star Benedict Cumberbatch to start filming on THIS date
Doctor Strange released in 2016. After which, Benedict Cumberbatch was seen donning the superhero role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. He will reprise his MCU role for Doctor Strange 2.
The events of Avengers: Endgame have ended a couple of storylines but paved way for many more. The 2019 Marvel movie brought an end to the stories of Captain America, Iron Man and Black Widow and opened the door for newer superheroes and possible sequels. While the future of Marvel Cinematic Universe is still under the wraps, there have been conversations over a possible Doctor Strange sequel. Reports about Doctor Strange 2 stemmed out as soon as the first movie released in 2016. A new update from Benedict Cumberbatch starrer shares more insights into the upcoming Marvel movie.
A recent report by Discussing Film shares the details about the filming date of the Marvel movie. The publication states that Doctor Strange 2 will begin shooting in 2020. The outlet zeroes in on a January 2020 filming schedule. They also reveal that the movie will be shot in the United Kingdom.
While there is no double-guessing that Benedict will be joined by Benedict Wong, the cast for the sequel is still unclear. Wong had confirmed soon after Avengers: Endgame premiered that a writer has been roped in to pen down the script. “I know they’ve now got a writer on board who I met at the Endgame premiere. So I think that may be happening some time next year,” Wong confirmed during an appearance at Denver Pop Culture Con, LRMOnline reported.
The last time we saw Doctor Strange, he joined the Avengers to beat Thanos. He had predicted that there was only one possibility when the Avengers could beat Thanos. In his stand-alone movie, the post-credit scene teased the making of a new villain in the form of Chiwetel Ejiofor's Baron Mordo. Only time will tell how the makers will blend the two endings (Avengers: Endgame and Doctor Strange) to tell a new tale. Fans could expect more details on Doctor Strange 2 and other MCU movies at the San Diego Comic Con. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
