Disney's Home Alone reboot cast announced; THIS child star will play the notorious Kevin McAllister's role
After rebooting the beloved Aladdin and The Lion King this year, Disney chief Bob Iger had confirmed that a handful of franchises will be getting a "reimagination" of sorts.
Disney is all set to reintroduce the world of Home Alone to a whole new audience as it announced a reboot of the super hit 1990 film a few months ago.After rebooting the beloved Aladdin and The Lion King this year, Disney chief Bob Iger confirmed that a handful of franchises will be getting a "reimagination" of sorts. Now, the first cast of the Home Alone reboot has been announced. According to reports, Jojo Rabbit breakout star and child actor Archie Yates will be taking on the lead role.
The classic film had actor Macaulay Culkin play the role of Kevin McAllister, an eight-year-old who is left to lookout for himself when his family goes on vacation leaving him accidentally behind. As per Variety, Yates will "not be playing the iconic Kevin McCallister, but a new character in a similar premise to the original franchise."
Joining Yates is The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s star Ellie Kemper and comedian-actor Rob Delaney. While one would assume that the stars would play Yates' onscreen parents, that is not the case. Variety's report revealed that they will be starring as other characters but did not reveal any more details. The film will make it's way to Disney's streaming plaform, however, a release date has not yet been set.
The “Home Alone” franchise is one of the most successful one. However, the original is considered to be the most favourite one among the four films and a Christmas staple.
