The singer also recounted her horrific days back in 2018 when she was rushed to the hospital after a drug overdose and her second chance at life.
The documentary shows the singer revealing details of her sexual assault. Revealing some shocking information, Demi reveals that she was assaulted not once, but twice. The second time was during the drug overdose episode in 2018 when she had blacked out and was sexually assaulted by her drug dealer.
She said, "I didn't just overdose. I was taken advantage of. When they found me, I was naked, blue. I was literally left for dead after he took advantage of me. When I woke up in the hospital, they asked if we had had consensual sex. There was one flash that I had of him on top of me. I saw that flash and I said yes. It wasn't until a month after the overdose that I realized, 'You weren't in any state of mind to make a consensual decision.'"
The horrific story does not end here as Demi recalled the first time she was raped was as a teenager at the age of 15. For the unversed, Demi was a Disney star with films like Camp Rock to her credit. She revealed that she lost her virginity to rape and was assaulted by someone she knew as they were "hooking up".
Demi said, "When I was a teenager, I was in a very similar situation. I lost my virginity in a rape."
Speaking about the time, she said, “We were hooking up but I said, ‘hey, this is not going any farther, I’m a virgin and I don’t want to lose it this way.’ And that didn’t matter to them, they did it anyways. And I internalized it and I told myself it was my fault, because I still went in the room with him, I still hooked up with him."
The singer also revealed that she did inform the adults in her life about the incident, but said the person "never got in trouble for it" and she had to continue to see this person "all the time" due to work.
Revealing why she feels the need to speak up now, Demi said, "I’m coming forward about what happened to me because everyone that happens to should absolutely speak their voice if they can and feel comfortable doing so."
