D23 Expo: Angelina Jolie starrer Maleficent: Mistress of Evil footage unveiled; Deets Inside
Fans attending the D23 Expo 2019 were lucky enough to get a glimpse of new footage from Angelina Jolie starrer Maleficent: Mistress of Evil slated for a release this October.
The much-awaited sequel to 2014's Maleficent is slated for an October 2019 release, however, fans at the D23 Expo on Saturday were shown fresh footage from the upcoming film, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. As we know, Angelina Jolie plays Maleficent and she went on to explain how the film will see both Maleficent and Aurora (Elle Fanning) deal with upcoming challenges the world throws at them for being different.
Jolie went on to say how in this one, they will be returning and see Aurora getting older while they face the world and also, the highlight is how they are different. She also said that they are encouraged to not be a family for their differences and they question and fight their belief of that difference is what makes them stronger. She said that family is defined by what you believe in. The trailer shows how Maleficent and Aurora meet and the latter insists her to not marry him while she just says no and explains her love for him.
Next up, they head to the castle, and while her horns and armour were gold earlier, they turn black. Next, we see how the groom greets her at the hall and though nervous, the King and Queen welcome her while servants set them up for dinner. The queen then questions Aurora about how she became a Queen and she then tells her story while they narrate their father's story as well and Maleficent explains how Aurora is her own. Then we see Chiwetel Ejiofor with horns coming from his head, shots in the wood while others fly, and an entire army is there. Maleficent is then ready for war
Directed by Joachim Rønning, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is a story by Linda Woolverton and is produced by Joe Roth, Angelina Jolie and Duncan Henderson with Matt Smith, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Michael Vieira as executive producers. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is slated for a release on October 18, 2019.
