The Marvel Studios Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 was buzzing with excitement as Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, revealed the slate of upcoming films from the Phase 4 lineup. We were introduced to the cast of various films like The Eternals and Shan-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings and also got updates on Doctor Strange's sequel titled Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness and Thor 4 titled Thor: Love And Thunder. Towards the end of the presentation, Kevin revealed that movies on Fantastic Four and The Mutants aka X-Men was also in the developmental stages.
Talking about The Mutants, Disney recently acquired 20th Century Fox and hence, X-Men will now come under the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). While talking about the future of X-Men in the MCU with IGN, Feige revealed, "Mutants and X-Men are interchangeable. I just said mutants. But, yes! Whatever we do will be quite different from what's been done before." The last time we saw the X-Men was in X-Men: Dark Phoenix which unfortunately tanked at the box-office.
Earlier, when Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, who played Magneto and Professor X in the X-Men franchise, were asked if they would be interested in reprising their characters in the MCU, the actors were not too keen about the idea. Fassbender had confessed to Esquire, "I guess what James is trying to say… there's just so many variables there. None of it, none of it in our control. So really pointless for us to think about it. You know?"

Meanwhile talking further about Phase 4, Kevin shared, "Phase 4 is about beginnings. Phase 4 is about learning new things about characters you already think you know like Black Widow. Meeting incredible new characters like The Eternals and Shan-Chi. Going on new adventures with Doctor Strange and Thor and these Disney+ shows which I promise will be spectacular and not what anyone is expecting."
