It was after the release of the steamy Señorita music video along with the timely Matthew Hussey breakup reports that Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's dating rumours spread like wildfire. Consequently, the pair were spotted together on various occasions, attached to the hip, with sneaky makeout sessions in tow. Even at Shawn's 21st birthday party, the couple could not keep their hands off of each other. However, both Shawn and Camila have mostly kept mum on talking about their growing relationship.
In a recent interview with Elle Magazine, while promoting her upcoming album aptly titled Romance, Cabello revealed the reason why she has mostly been tight-lipped about her relationship with Mendes. Speaking about how people can speculate and say whatever it is they want to, Camila stated that "we are going to live our own lives, enjoy it, and fall for each other like nobody is watching." Furthermore, the former Fifth Harmony member added, "That is how I want to live. I never want to open the door for people to feel like they are involved. Like I said, I want it to be mine and [his]. That’s why I’m so tight-lipped about it: because I want to protect it."

Camila also added that she absolutely loves working with her beau as they are connected and have the best time together. The Liar songstress confessed that initially, she did not want to be a part of Señorita when she was first pitched the idea by Mendes. Months later, Cabello could not get the song out of her head but then, Shawn wasn't interested in the collab anymore. After some major back and forth that lasted eight months, Camila shared, "Then we finally went into the studio and reworked it so we both felt good about it, without any pressure. I love working with him so much."
