Bond 25: Captain Marvel's Lashana Lynch set to become the new 007 in next James Bond film
Lashana Lynch, who starred in Captain Marvel as Maria Rambeau alongside Brie Larson, has landed the role as the 007 agent in Bond 25, reported Mail Online.
Daniel Craig's last outing as James Bond has fans of the franchise waiting with bated breath for a big announcement of who will be stepping into shoes. Well, international reports now state that British actress Lashana Lynch is taking over his licence to kill. Lashana, who starred in Captain Marvel as Maria Rambeau alongside Brie Larson, has landed the role as the 007 agent in Bond 25, reported Mail Online. As per the report, Lashana will take over as a younger agent but before that will have the job of convincing Bond to emerge from retirement and save the world again.
The makers of the Bond franchise have been criticised time and again for being sexist and outdated. Lashana's casting comes after heated debates about the stereotypical casting over the years. An insider told the Mail Online, "There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says 'Come in 007', and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman. Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks."
The source also added that Bond is left baffled. "He is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed." The makers want to create a Bond for the new era which appeals to the newer generation.
Bond 25's new villain is Bohemian Rhapsody's Rami Malek. However, an old villain, Christopher Waltz, was spotted on the sets of the new James Bond movie recently.
