All hail Queen Bey! Singer Beyonce is making history one portrait at a time. Soon, Beyonce is going to be on permanent display in the National Portrait Gallery's collection in Washington, D.C. The portrait which has made it to the coveted spot is Beyonce's picture from last year's Vogue September issue which was shot by the young famed photographer Tyler Mitchell. The portrait holds importance for more than one reason as it marked the first time a black person has shot the cover of Vogue in its 125-year history.

Sharing the news on his Instagram page, Tyler wrote, "A year ago today we broke the flood gates open. Since then it was important to spend the whole year running through them making sure every piece of the gate was knocked down. And now I’m glad to share this picture is being acquired into the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection."

Members at the gallery are equally excited and are looking forward to have Beyonce grace its walls. They commented on Tyler's picture and said, "We look forward to adding this new work to our collection!" Whereas, Associate Curator of Photographs Dr. Leslie Ureña said in a statement, "We are delighted to acquire this magnificent portrait of Beyoncé."

The portrait features Queen Bey in a gold sequin Valentino dress with her tresses braided into cornrows. The highlight of the photo is easily the extravagant spiked fascinator on Beyonce's head.
