BET Awards 2019: Rihanna takes the stage to present Mary J Blige with Lifetime Achievement Award
RiRi looked fierce in an all leather-black pantsuit and made the audience go crazy as soon as she appeared on stage to present Mary J Bilge with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The 18th BET Awards were held today and the biggest stars from the show business in Hollywood turned up to take the stage by storm. One of them was superstar Rihanna who took the Microsoft Theater stage on June 23 to present Mary J. Blige with the BET Lifetime Achievement Award. RiRi looked fierce in an all leather-black pantsuit and made the audience go crazy as soon as she appeared on stage. With her hair tied up in a high ponytail and diamond chokers shining bright, Rihanna definitely served up some fashions inspiration.
Hailing the legendary singer for her style and sound, Rihanna made mention of Blige’s history-making two Oscar nominations in the same year, for best actress and original song for “Mudbound." The admiration among the two stars was mutual as Bilge also revealed that she was a huge fan of Rihanna. Accepting the trophy, Blige told Rihanna, ” I don’t think you know how much I love and respect you. I’m a huge fan and you inspire me right back.”
Rihanna gave an impressive speech while announcing Mary J Bilge's award. She said, "Happy Mary. Sad Mary. Mad Mary. No more drama Mary. Dancing Mary. We’re here for all of it." She added, "Thank you for showing us that love is all that we need. But we didn’t know how much we actually needed you."
The Queen of hip-hop and R&B, J Bilge's acceptance speech was moving to say the least. "This journey has always been bigger than me and my mission is not only just to survive right now, it’s to thrive and continue to make history while I do it," Bilge concluded.
