Batman's Robert Pattinson almost quit acting after HORRIBLE Twilight audition: My confidence just s**t the bed
Robert Pattinson is all set to play the new Batman in the Matt Reeves directorial. However, a few years ago, the Twilight star came extremely close to quitting his acting career.
He might be the new Batman now but Robert Pattinson almost quit acting after his Twilight role. The international actor, who starred in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, took on the vampire role in the Twilight franchise and changed his career for good. However, the actor recently revealed that he came close to packing his bags and kissing Hollywood and his acting career goodbye after he had, in his own words, had a horrible audition for the Twilight movie, which also starred Kristen Stewart in the lead.
Appearing on the HFPA In Conversation podcast, Pattinson reflected upon his role in Harry Potter and went on to recall his audition for the Twilight saga. The actor revealed he had gone to LA for the interview. He recalled recording auditions on his parent's old Sony handy-cam from the early '90s. As part of his audition, Pattinson's agent insisted the actor takes a guitar for the scene involved Edward playing the guitar. Pattinson revealed he almost immediately regretted taking the musical instrument with him.
"It was the scene when [Edward] had a guitar...my agent was like, 'take your guitar into the audition. I just walked in and they were like, 'Oh. You brought a guitar. Do you want to play us a song,' and I was like, 'No. This is the worst decision I ever made.' I was saying no and they were like, 'You just brought a guitar into just to hold it? Why did you bring a guitar in?'" he recalled.
"My entire confidence just s--t the bed. The audition was one of the worst auditions I did in my whole life. I remember calling my parents and saying, 'I'm done, I can't torture myself anymore,' and the next day I got a Twilight audition," he added.
Well, we are glad he got the role. We cannot picture any other star in the shoes of Edward. Pattinson also spoke about his experience in Harry Potter. He said, "It was a really nice environment on Harry Potter. Even compared to the movies I've done since, it was very protective. The way the kids were treated...In Harry Potter they were at school and they were kind of doing work at the same time...It felt like a very friendly family environment."
Going forward, Pattinson recently starred in The Lighthouse and is gearing for Matt Reeves The Batman.
