Avengers: Endgame writers want to pen a new Superman movie; Will DC pay heed?

Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely want to pick up the pen to write another superhero movie. Only this time, they want to do a Superman movie. The writer duo has been a part of six blockbuster Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. This includes Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Having successfully experimented with the superhero movies, the duo is ready to take on the project and this time, they are interested in trying their hands on the Man of Steel.

There have been a few Superman movies. The recent being Man of Steel, released in 2013. The movie was directed by Zack Snyder and featured Henry Cavill donning the red cape. Ever since there have just been discussions about Man of Steel 2 but the ball hasn't set rolling.

Amidst this, Markus and McFeely admitted they were interested in penning down a Superman movie. Speaking with Screen Rant, the writer duo not only expressed their interest, but they also said that a Superman movie could be treated like a Captain America movie. "I mean, I think Captain America shows there are certainly ways to do a really good Superman movie in this day," answered McFeely. "You don't have to dirty him up, you don't have to get rid of his earnestness. I'm a big — the Christopher Reeve Superman is one of my favorite movies. So that's one we certainly borrow from all the time."

It would be interesting to see if Warner Bros and DC Films would pay heed to the Avengers: Endgame writers interest for the studio has treated Superman differently over the past few years. Director Snyder chose to give a dark edge to the Man of Steel, an arc which was approached in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. But WB could consider roping it and giving Superman a facelift for Markus and McFeely's do not have any future projects lined up for Marvel Studios, as per Comicbook.com.
