Avengers: Endgame star Robert Downey Jr DESERVES an Oscar at Academy Awards 2020, say Russo Brothers

It is no secret that The Academy has shied away from recognising superhero movies. There has been only one actor in the history of the Academy awarded an Oscar for his performance in a superhero movie. The late Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his role as Joker in The Dark Knight, in 2008. Ever since, fans have suggested several names who deserve a nomination, including Hugh Jackman for Wolverine in Logan. Now, Avengers: Endgame directors believe Robert Downey Jr. deserves to win an Oscar.
It has just been a week since Avengers: Endgame released and the movie is also generating the Oscar buzz. While fans are hoping that the movie follows the footsteps of Black Panther into the Best Film category nomination, directors Joe and Anthony Russo want The Academy to recognise Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. The directors said that if one looks at RDJ's work in the last four Marvel movies, he has done phenomenal work. "He deserves an Oscar perhaps more than anyone in the last 40 years because of the way that he has motivated popular culture," he said, as per Washington Post report.
We don't disagree with the Russo Brothers. Downey Jr has invested his all in Iron Man. The actor has evolved the character in the past ten years. He is the reason the MCU fans are walking out sobbing after watching Avengers: Endgame.
While the Russo Brothers want Downey Jr to shine at Oscars 2020, Marvel is pushing Avengers: Endgame at the Oscars. Fandango's Erik Davis took to Twitter to inform fans that the studio showcased the movie for The Academy recently.
