While talking to actor Justin Long on his podcast, Life is Short, Jeremy Renner said he declined the role in spite of a hefty amount being offered to him as fees for this role in Hellboy. Jeremy further added that when he read the script, he could not understand how he could fit in, as he just could not relate to the character in Hellboy that was being offered to him.
