Avengers: Endgame star Chris Hemsworth: I was running out of money before Thor
Chris Hemsworth got candid about a time before Thor (2011) when he was running out of money. The actor was not getting callbacks and instead, he kept getting the worst feedback. Read below to know more on what Hemsworth had to say on the same.
Chris Hemsworth may have been an Australian boy wonder during his initial acting days, thanks to his appearances in Aussie television shows but the actor became a global phenomenon as Thor in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Starring in the Avengers films as well as having three solo-films in his repertoire, you can't imagine anyone except Hemsworth essaying Thor. In Avengers: Endgame, the end suggested that there is still more for Thor in the MCU, perhaps in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. However, Thor's fate is yet to be revealed in Phase 4 of the MCU.
In an interview with Variety, Chris got candid about his financial difficulties before getting the role of Thor. The actor stated that there was a time where things were not going good. He had stopped getting callbacks and was getting the worst feedback. Chris felt he put too much pressure on himself for not being able to help his parents financially. Hemsworth also revealed that he was left gutted when he missed out on starring in hits like G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra (2009) as well as the Wolverine X-Men films.
"At the time, I was upset. I was running out of money. But if I played either of those characters, I wouldn’t have been able to play Thor," Chris shared.
