Avengers: Endgame inches closer towards USD 2.7 billion worldwide box office collection
The film has earned USD 1.883 billion overseas as of Sunday, with a new global sum of USD 2.689 billion.
It has been a month since Avengers: Endgame released. The movie opened to a mind-blowing box office collection, both in India and worldwide. And there is no stopping. The movie has already surpassed the box office collection of Titanic and Avatar on the domestic front. The Marvel movie earned registered another USD 1.853 million on Tuesday in the US, according to Forbes report. The movie witnessed a drop of 36 percent in comparison to last Tuesday. This collection brings Avengers: Endgame's domestic box office collection to USD 805.2 million.
The Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner starrer is now the second highest grossing film of all time in the US. Star Wars: The Force Awakens stands firm on the top spot with a box office collection of USD 936.6 million.
All this while, the Avengers movie faced threats individually from Detective Pikachu and John Wick 3, which were released on individual dates. However, the upcoming weekend sees the Avengers battle with Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Ma and Rocketman. It will be interesting to see how Avengers: Endgame holds up against the three movies.
If Avengers: Endgame continues a good run, it will place itself above Star Wars – Episode One: The Phantom Menace soon. That's not all. The movie will also manage to find a spot above Jurassic and Return of the Jedi. Trade analysts feel that if the movie performs like 2016 release Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame could record USD 840 million total domestic box office collection.
On the international front, the movie collected USD1.883 billion overseas until last Sunday. This has brought the movie's worldwide box office collection to USD 2.6 billion. The movie is expected to surpass USD 2.7 billion mark today. With this collection, Avengers: Endgame is USD 100 million away from overtaking Jame Cameron's Avatar. The Forbes report suggests that Marvel movie will final total of around USD 2.79 billion for Endgame, which is higher than Avatar. We'll have to wait and watch to see if the Marvel Studios movie will make it or not.
