Avengers: Endgame madness trumps the craze of a Rajinikanth movie in India; Read to know how
From Avengers: Endgame film's timings starting as early as 6 AM to the booking website crashing due to the innumerable Marvel fans logging in to book tickets of the MCU movie, the madness for the Marvel movie has surpassed the craze of any Rajinikanth movie.
As a movie buff who grew up in Chennai, the Rajinikanth mania was something that was part and parcel of my life. Waking up in the wee hours to make sure we get tickets to the first day was a ritual almost every time a Rajinikanth movie released. Tickets would cost anything between Rs 100 to Rs 1000, and this was when multiplexes were still handing out cheap tickets. I was so sure that nothing would come close to this madness, until Avengers: Endgame advance bookings opened and changed everything.
The Marvel Studios movie is releasing this weekend and it will culminate the 10-year journey of the production. It is an important movie for Marvel Cinematic Universe fans as Avengers: Endgame will reveal the Avengers' efforts to undo the deaths caused by Thanos' snap in Avengers: Infinity War. The movie will also draw curtains on a few story lines featuring the core Avengers.
Given the build up to the Endgame, fans want to make sure that they catch the movie before spoilers hit them. As a result, fans are ready to wake up as early as 6 AM to watch the Marvel movie. If you think that there are just handful of fans who would be this crazy, shows for the earliest shows of Avengers: Endgame across the country are already housefull throughout the weekend.
That's not all. Avengers: Endgame's advance booking tickets went live on late Saturday night in India and MCU fans waited the whole of Sunday to get their hands on IMAX and 3D tickets. It got so bad that the booking websites crashed after a point and it took time to revive the platform. Tickets are being sold for as high as Rs 2200.
