Avengers: Endgame directors have NO plans of returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Not only Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner, Avengers: Endgame is a wrap for Joe and Anthony Russo's Marvel journey. The directors reveal they are moving on.
Avengers: Endgame has released today. The movie is an end of sorts for many involved in making it. Avengers: Endgame marks the closure to the journeys of the core Avengers. Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner will assemble for one last time in their superhero avatars. Turns out, they aren't the only ones. The directors behind the Marvel movie, Joe and Anthony Russo, are not returning to Marvel, as of now.
The Russo brothers have done four movies for Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film-makers joined MCU with Captain America: The Winter Soldier before directing Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
The directors, in a conversation with Games Radar, revealed that the Russo brothers are moving on from Marvel and will announce newer projects.
"It’s our Endgame, at least for now. We don’t have any plans for now to make any more Marvel movies. It certainly may come up in the future at some point. We have a wonderful working relationship with [Marvel Studios] and a great passion for what they’re doing," they told the outlet.
However, they are open to returning to the camp if Marvel Studios decides to adapt 2015's Secret Wars to the big screen.
Meanwhile, the Russo brothers are already in works with Spider-Man: Far From Home star Tom Holland. The movie has been titled Cherry. The actor plays a war veteran who is struggling with drug addiction and PTSD. As a result, he starts robbing banks.
“We’re going to shift gears and direct a much smaller movie this summer with Tom Holland called Cherry, which is loosely based on a real story about a veteran of the Iraq War, who suffers from PTSD… gets a heroin addiction and ends up robbing banks to sustain that addiction," they revealed.
Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
