Avatar director James Cameron: It took Avengers: Endgame to sink my Titanic
James Cameron, director of Avatar (2009), took to Instagram to congratulate Team Avengers: Endgame for dethroning Titanic's lifetime box-office collection. Read below to know what the director had to say.
Avengers: Endgame is killing it at the box-office as they are breaking one record after another. In India, the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) film has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark already and could be looking at a lifetime collection of Rs 375 crore, which is massive for a Hollywood flick. The total collections in terms of the global box-office market stand at $2.2 billion and counting. It has successfully crossed James Cameron's romantic tragedy Titanic (1997) whose lifetime collections was $2.1 million.
James took to his Instagram page to tip a hat to Team Avengers: Endgame, especially Kevin Feige. The photo shared by Cameron sees the Titanic ship sinking once it hits the Avengers 'A' logo. James wrote, "To Kevin (Feige, producer) and everyone at Marvel, an iceberg sank the real Titanic. It took the Avengers to sink my Titanic. Everyone here at Lightstorm Entertainment salutes your amazing achievement. You’ve shown that the movie industry is not only alive and well, but it’s also bigger than ever." This is indeed an impressive gesture from James, wouldn't you agree?
Meanwhile, in an interview with CinemaBlend, Joe Russo had revealed that Robert Downey Jr was hesitant to say "I am Iron Man," during the climax sequence in Avengers: Endgame. However, producer Joel Silver convinced him to say his iconic line.
On the other hand, Jeremy Renner got candid with Pinkvilla about how important the friendships with the MCU cast has been over a decade and that the matching tattoos with the OG 6 cast were proof of the same.
