Anthony Mackie OPENS UP on succeeding Chris Evans as Captain America; Says 'It's very emotional'
Anthony Mackie has spoken about the pain and joy that comes with him carrying forward Captain America's legacy in a recent interview.
Avengers: Endgame brought an end to a lot of things but also has brought some incredibly powerful stories that are coming our way. In fact, when Steve Rogers played by Chris Evans handed over the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson portrayed by Anthony Mackie still gives all kinds of chills. The scene is one of the most emotional scenes in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now, it has been revealed by Anthony Mackie in an interview with Deadline that it was a touching moment for him. As he talks about his childhood and how it has changed a lot of things in his life. Mackie said, “You know what, to be honest, it’s very emotional. I’ve been in the business for 20 years and I’ve been fortunate to do some amazing stuff and work with amazing people. For me, to be a Black man in 2019 and be given the helm of Captain America with the history of Black men in this country is a monumental step, not only in entertainment but also in my life. It’s been extremely emotional. Look, my grandfather was a sharecropper, you know what I mean? There’s a lot of history and pain and triumph and joy that comes along with me being Captain America.”
Well, we can understand the vibes and sentiments Anthony Mackie is experiencing at this moment. But no one can argue over the fact that he is the one who deserves to have the shield of Captain America. Mackie’s Falcon has been a faithful companion to Steve Rogers and has shown his intelligence, composure and determination in cold moments too. Up next Anthony Mackie will be seen in Disney’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier series that is coming on their streaming service next year.
