Another Matrix movie in the making with Black Panther star Michael B Jordan in the lead? Details inside
After Keanu Reeves' The Matrix series concluded in 2003, a new Matrix is coming our way. It seems like Michael B Jordan could be headlining this project.
Revisiting classics seems to be the theme currently taking over Hollywood lately. The summer alone saw production houses revisit at least three franchise: Men In Black, Toy Story and Hellboy make its way to the cinemas. While Toy Story 4 has recently released with some amazing reviews, the others have failed critics and the box office. But this is not going to stop Hollywood from trying going to the attic and pulling out hit franchise to reboot or remake. The recent franchise that could possibly join the list is The Matrix. The blockbuster franchise stepped into Hollywood in 1999 and delivered three movies: The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003).
Now, six years after the Keanu Reeves starrer franchise kissed the box office goodbye, rumours have stemmed out suggesting that Warner Bros could be putting together another Matrix movie. The word on the street is that another Matrix movie is on its way. Given the summer slump, there could be doubts on how the project could turn out. But hold on, given the casting rumour, we have faith in this venture. A new report suggests that Black Panther star Michael B Jordan could be headlining this project.
As per a Discussing Film report, the original filmmakers Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski, popularly known as The Wachowskis, might take the director's seat yet again for the new Matrix film. The report suggests that the movie will begin filming in 2020, in Chicago. The working title is reportedly Project Ice Cream. The script will be penned down Zak Penn. It is still unclear if this would be a remake or reboot.
This isn't the first time that rumours about a new Matrix sparked. Back in May, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum filmmaker Chad Stahelski hinted about The Wachowskis' Matrix plans. "I'm super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they're expanding what we all loved. And if it's anywhere near the level of what they've already done, it wouldn't take more than a call to go, 'Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy' and I would probably go and get hit by a car," Stahelski said to Slashfilm.
