Angelina Jolie felt BROKEN as she prepared to return for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil after Brad Pitt split
Angelina Jolie parted ways from Brad Pitt in 2016. Making her first on-screen appearance since the split with Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Angelina speaks about gathering the strength to put life into Maleficent.
Angelina Jolie returned to the big screen after a break of four years with Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. During those years, Angelina was battling the aftermath of her split with Brad Pitt. The duo parted ways in 2016. After which, she devoted herself to her six children - Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - and made sure she was there for them at the drop of the hat. While she put the pieces together and decided to return in front of the camera, Angelina confessed it wasn't a walk in the park.
Speaking to People magazine, Angelina revealed she felt broken and it took her a moment to gather the strength to pump life into Maleficent one more time. She remembered the "tough" time and said, “I’d been coming off a few years of difficulty, and I was not feeling very strong. In fact, I was feeling pretty broken. It took me a moment to feel the strength of [Maleficent] again.” The actress did not elaborate on her struggle but we know she has been through some difficult times.
This isn't the first time Angelina has touched upon the struggles post her separation from Brad. Speaking to E! News, she said, "I’m like everybody and… especially these last few years haven’t been the easiest, and I haven’t felt very strong. There’s something when you’re not feeling very strong, where you push yourself. And I’m so grateful that I have the opportunity to play these kinds of characters, that pull out every bit of strength I have and that remind me that I can be strong.”
On the work front, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil was released over the weekend and Angelina is expected to dive into the filming of her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, The Eternals. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
