Amla reached 8000 ODI runs against New Zealand on Wednesday
Africa's opener Hasim Amla became the second fastest to reach 8000 runs in ODIs. He achieved this feat in the sixth game of their World Cup campaign against New Zealand at Edgbaston, Birmingham on 19th June 2019.
Hashim Amla needed 24 runs to go past this magic number. In doing so, he became the fourth South African batsmen after Jacques Kallis, Herschelle Gibbs and AB de Villiers.
Here we have a look at the batsmen who were the quickest to achieve 8000 runs in ODIs:
175 innings- Virat Kohli
176 innings- Hashim Amla
182 innings- AB de Villiers
Interestingly, Hashim Amla also holds the record for being the quickest to reach 2000,3000,4000,5000,6000 and 7000 ODI run
