GAON certifications out; BE certified triple million; NCT goes platinum; new singles also certified
BTS, NCT, Nayoung and others certified in Gaon’s monthly summary chart of album and stream in Feb-March.
Back with another million, BTS’ latest album BE has now been certified to have triple million sales according to Gaon’s new monthly summary released on March 11. In addition to this massive feat, NCT’s NCT 2018 Empathy has surpassed 500,000 sales and received Double Platinum verification, whereas their 2nd mini album, We Go Up has been certified Platinum.
Other albums that have achieved platinum certification are TREASURE’s The First Step: Treasure Effect and The First Step: Chapter One. After the Cumulative Album Sales category, only the Streaming Cumulative Usage Certification has been updated as for now. In the streaming category, Kim Nayoung’s To Be Honest, Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello’s Senorita, and Oh My Girl’s Nonstop are the only songs updated, which have received the Platinum certification. The list of albums that received certification was way longer in January than inFebruary.
In February, out of the eight albums listed, only one album got a million certification - NCT’s NCT RESONANCE Pt. 2 - The 2nd Album. Platinums on the list included Jonghyun’s Poet I Artist, GOT7’s Breath of Love: Last Piece, Kai’s KAI - The 1st Mini Album, ENHYPEN’s BORDER: DAY ONE, IZ*ONE’s One-reeler / Act IV, Kim Ho Joo’s The Classic Album I & The Classic Album II.
As streamings and album sales hold a major role in marking a group’s success, Gaon charts is one of the major record charts in South Korea that calculates the popularity number of any and all idol groups. The certification and charting on the Gaon chart holds a powerful impact for the bands and helps cement their mark in the South Korean entertainment industry.
