In just four days of its arrival at the theatres, Fukrey Returns has done a great job at the box office - to put it - the movie is having a dream run at the ticket windows. The film has earned INR 42.35 crore in the domestic market. We got in touch with Richa Chadha aka Bholi Punjaban to know her reaction to the successful run of the film.

To which she said, "It's pretty good for a film of this level. I am hoping we keep doing better and better. We all are excited and happy about it. The film has become famous in Delhi, Punjab and surprisingly, even in Mumbai. So, the whole team is overjoyed. In prime time, the theatres are fully booked, so  I am pretty thrilled about."

Further, into the conversation, we asked is there anything in common between Bholi and Richa as both are very strong and vocal about their opinions. On these lines, she told us, "One thing that I feel Bholi Punjaban and I have in common is that she is a person who doesn't have restrictions in her head like I am a girl and I shouldn't talk or walk like this. She continues to be who she is without worrying about what the whole world thinks of her. She runs her business with a lot of dignity. I love that about this character."

Taking a lead from Bholi being a strong character, we asked her opinion about changing the portrayal of women characters onscreen. She said, "Definitely, it's changing in a way how female characters are now written and even when they are shown as victims of something, they are successful at the end. They are more nuanced and not just black and white. Earlier, they were shown as virginal and sweet and the vamp is very cabaret type. Talking about Bholi, she is also a vamp but has more shades to her character. They are greater dimensions to the character."

The conversation then panned to the concept of sequels. With sequels like Fukrey Returns, Golmaal Again and Judwaa 2, the notion has changed that sequels don't work that well. Richa, adding her inputs to it, said, I think what's happening is, to be honest, that world is also depressed and they want to laugh. When there is a film which has a lot of fun elements and lots of laughter doses, people like it. Even our film after having a political angle, people appreciated it."

Those who have seen the film carefully, would have surely understood that Fukrey Returns is not just a comedy movie but has more to it - it's an out-and-out political satire. Talking about the political angle in the film, Richa stated, "Anybody - be it men or women - people tend to become corrupt in politics and it's the common mass that suffers the most. Whenever elections are around, leaders take the emotional angle and no one talks about the real concerns. It was a political satire and only a few people could get that."

After Fukrey Returns, Richa has her bag full of new projects. She told us, "Well, one teaser is attached to Fukrey Returns and the movie is called 3 Storeys and I have a significant role to play. Then I have Sudhir Mishra's Daasdev which is a contemporary adaptation of the Saratchandra Chattopadhhyay's classic Devdas. I also have an international project - Love Sonia. Once all the promotions are done, I will head for a vacation."

To conclude our conversation with Richa, we asked how the year 2017 has been for the actor. "My career is beginning in 2017 and I have taken a lot of risks in this year which worked in my favour. This year has taught me that if you are patient and not compete with anyone, things will work out for you," Richa concluded and signed off.
