Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt is doing wonders at the box office. Zoya makes sure that every character in her film has its own space and relevance. All her characters speak their own concerns and you can relate to each one of them. In the film, Vijay Raaz is seen playing the role of Ranveer Singh’s father. If you have seen the film, Vijay Raaz has done a marvelous job in putting out his screen character in the best way. Vijay has played varied roles and has made his presence felt with his powerful persona. We got in touch with the talented actor Vijay Raaz to know his experience of working with Ranveer Singh and how he came on board for Gully Boy.
When asked about playing a father to Ranveer in the film, he told us, “It is never about playing a father to someone or a son. All that matters is your character and how relevant it is. I have known Zoya for long and she was assisting in my first film, Bhopal Express. We had met in 1998. She called me and it was a nice feeling to be associated with her after so long.” We also discussed the idea of box office numbers and told him that the movie got a bumper opening of around Rs 19 crores. On this, Vijay told us that he isn’t really connected to this particular area of cinema.

“I am not someone who is connected to this particular area from the start. I have not seen many of my own films. I do my work and then, I start focussing on other things in my life. I don't get affected if the film is getting hit or not and I have felt this way inclined to any project. I don't understand the terminologies and I am happy that the film did well and would want to do it better. Rest, box office numbers don't affect me,” said Raaz.
Further, into the conversation, we asked about his experience of working with Ranveer. Putting his point, he stated, “It was nice working with Ranveer and this goes for all the others in the cast. We all are actors and we all know our work. Everyone is working according to their talent. I really like Ranveer as an actor and he is doing well in his career. He knows his craft and he knows what he has come to do.”
The actor has been in the industry for long now. His kauwa biryani act from the film Run proves the fact that the actor doesn’t need a powerful script to prove his talent. He effortlessly pulls off any character he plays and he has done the same in Gully Boy.
We asked him how does he see his cinematic journey. “I feel I am not the right one to answer this because I myself don't know what I am here for and why did I join acting. I still don't what my aim is in my life. I just entered the industry and I started enjoying my craft. For me, enjoying what I do is important and it gives me peace. I never had this in me that I have to become big as I have never seen things that way. I have never had any aim in my life. I live in present,” Vijay Raaz said and signed off.
